Happy Tails (and Trails)
August 11th, 2014
More than half of home buyers seem to have at least one dog or plan to get one as soon as they have a fenced yard at their new house. But wait! Hold your Great Danes! One doesn’t necessarily need a fenced yard with all of the dog parks and dog friendly hiking trails found throughout the Triangle.
Durham is the king of dog friendliness with at least seven doggie destinations. . Raleigh is not far behind with six fabulous parks/trails. Be sure to check out the Oakwood Dog Park, not to mention the cool renovated bungalows you can buy nearby…..
Cary may have had one of the first Triangle dog parks when a citizen group worked tirelessly with the Town Council years ago for approvals. It’s at Godbold Park which also boasts a skate park and regular playground.
Umstead Park is another great space with trails galore for dogs and owners and has two convenient access points – one in Cary and the other in Raleigh.
Venture out and have a blast with your four-legged friends and when they have worn you out and you head home, you may very well want to call a fence company so the dogs can play some more. The MPT can recommend some good fence people!
