Shark Week & Home Buying — There’s More in Common Than You Think!
August 14th, 2014
Every week, we’ll have someone ask us how the market is doing these days. A recent article in the News & Observer revealed that Triangle home sales have inched up just one percent this July, as compared to the same period last year.
With Shark Week upon us, we can’t help but view this recent home buying market data in terms of the feeding frenzy viewers can tune into all week long on the Discovery Channel. While it’s true that home sales in Raleigh, Cary, Durham and the surrounding areas aren’t skyrocketing, that doesn’t mean there aren’t eager home buyers ready to strike when the perfect home comes available — the problem is that there aren’t enough fish in the sea.
At Mission Possible, we’d liken today’s housing market to blood in the water of a shark tank. Despite the fact that inventory is increasing, especially in new home construction, there is still very little out there available to buy. A quality home in a coveted area can easily be gone the first or second day on the market. In fact, it’s not unusual for us to sell multiple homes their first day on the market. As of late, it’s normal for our Raleigh real estate agents to experience home sales with multiple offer scenarios — our own version of a Shark Week feeding frenzy.
Buying a Home? Make Sure You’re Ready to Fight the Feeding Frenzy with the Mission Possible Team
If you’re in the market to buy a home, you need to be prepared to fight this feeding frenzy. Truly, home buyers need to be ready to pull the trigger the minute they find the perfect home — not that day, not that hour.
Once you decide to begin searching for a home, be sure you are ready to buy if the opportunity arises. If you’re not already pre-approved for a mortgage, you’re most likely wasting your time. In this tight market, pre-approval can be the difference between getting the house of your dreams and losing it to home buyers who are more prepared than yourself.
Don’t be afraid to take the plunge — we’d be happy to help you navigate the shark-infested waters of home buying in the Triangle! Contact the Mission Possible Team today to get started.
