Winter Weather in Raleigh/Cary
January 21st, 2014
For as long as I can remember I have heard how Southerners do not know how to drive in the snow around here. Well, there is a reason for that. This is not your Grandpa’s Winter Weather, you New England Transplant you This is more like a slushy that warms up in the sun and then freezes over. ITS CALED ICE PEOPLE and guess what? No one can drive in ice. Years ago, when I volunteered with a local rescue squad we would inevitably get called out during a winter storm to haul someone out of a ditch. They were typically from the Northeast or Midwest where they get real snow that isnt as slick as an eel and a lot prettier to look at in two days. They would tell us ” I dont know what happened? All of a sudden the car just started drifting toward the ditch and there was nothing I could do”. Do not feel bad, there is not much anyone can do. So stay off the roads tonight and in the morning unless you absolutely have to go out. Here is a link to the NC DOT suggestions for winter driving safety tips.
